  • Why Boundless Medical?
Boundless Medical is a fully accredited, physician lead COVID Testing site serving Vancouver Island and beyond. We hold ourselves to strict standards and are fully accredited the the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. We pride ourselves on professionalism and ensuring all results arrive in a timely fashion. We are the only location in Victoria to have a full suite of testing solutions on-site. We are thus the only site capable of offering guaranteed results in a guaranteed time frame. Other testing sites often collect samples and then send them to third-party laboratory facilities elsewhere for processing. This can lead to many delays that may affect the timeliness of your results. Being run by physicians we can also give you up-to-date information on testing, and provide all the documents you might need for travel, such as physician certificates. Local government forms such as the Japan Entry Certificate are completed free of charge. You have been waiting too long for this trip. Book with Boundless Medical and get tested with confidence.
  • Can I make a group booking?
For groups wishing to book together, we still require clients to make separate appointments one after another for each individual group member. This ensures each client's test is administered appropriately and they receive a personalized travel document. In cases of limited online availability or larger groups, please reach out by email for assistance and we will do our best to accommodate your party.
  • I'm symptomatic and worried that I have COVID. Can you test me for personal or work purposes?
Yes. If you are a BC resident, under some limited circumstances you may qualify for testing via the public health system. If you do not qualify and wish to test privately, we can offer testing for you. If making a booking online, please add a booking note that you are symptomatic or have tested positive on a home test so we are best prepared to receive you. Special considerations need to be taken for higher risk patients to limit risk to our staff and other patients.
  • I see that you are closed on Saturdays. If I tested on a Friday, when will I receive my results?
Though our office is closed to the public on Saturdays, there are still staff members processing samples and issuing results. If you booked a PCR with next-day results on Friday, rest assured you will receive your results by Saturday afternoon or earlier. Our office can sometimes accommodate Saturday requests, so please reach out if you have a special situation.
  • I tested positive for COVID-19 on a home antigen test kit. Can you certify this for insurance purposes?
Yes! Insurance providers generally require a certified test result by an accredited medical facility or clinician. In many circumstances, virtual-supervised tests are acceptable for this purpose and we can certify your result with a Virtual booking. Always confirm first with your insurance provider as to what type of test and documentation is acceptable. We can certify your test with an in-office visit too provide you give us some advanced notice that you're testing positive at home.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Antigen, RT-PCR, Virtual, and Certificate of Recovery bookings can be rescheduled free of charge provided we receive at least 24 hours notice from your scheduled appointment time and space is available during standard work hours. Bookings canceled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time are fully refundable less a $10 administrative fee. Missed appointments, or bookings canceled or rescheduled less than 24 hours prior to your appointment are non-refundable. Please read our Terms & Conditions in full before making any booking.
  • I'm testing for travel. What happens if my flight is canceled at the last minute?
First, check with your country of destination. Some countries may allow some leeway in testing requirements in the event of a delayed or canceled flight. Boundless Medical is first and foremost a COVID-19 testing facility. We test patients for many reasons aside from travel, including workplace exposures, corporate requests, and personal reasons. We do not adjust our cancellation policy in the event of interrupted or canceled flights. In these circumstances, we recommend that affected clients reach out to their travel insurance provider. We can provide itemized invoices in the event you choose to make an insurance claim.
  • What classifies as an Out-of-Hours booking?
Our site is routinely staffed according to our listed opening hours (PST). In the event of testing requests for times outside of our usual operating hours, staff may need to stay late or be called in to accommodate your requests. "Out-of-hours" testing times are those outside our posted office hours. Additional fees may apply.

  • What test do I need to fly to the USA?

  • What test do I need to come back to Canada?
As of April 1, 2022, Canada generally does not require pre-entry COVID-19 testing for fully vaccinated travelers. Please consult the Canadian government website regarding COVID-19 air entry regulations to review requirements for your party members who are children or not fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This can change on a country-to-country basis depending on the prevalence of COVID-19.
  • What test is required to go to Hawaii?
Hawaii has aligned itself with the rest of the mainland USA's requirements. As of 12:01 AM ET on June 12, the USA has ended pre-entry COVID-19 testing requirements. Although no longer compulsory, the CDC continues to recommend pre-departure testing and the wearing of masks. Please see the Hawaii link at the bottom of the page for more information.
  • I'm going on a cruise. What test do I need?
Each individual cruise liner has their own requirements both for testing type and the timeline for testing. Please double check your cruise company's regulations prior to making a booking to ensure you comply with their policies.
  • Are viral antigen tests suitable for travel to Japan?
No! The viral antigen test performed at Boundless Medical is a qualitative test and is not acceptable for travel to Japan. Quantitative antigen testing is not routinely available in British Columbia. Our RT-PCR testing however, is suitable for Japan. Please advise us in advance if you plan on traveling to Japan as special forms need to be filled. Boundless Medical will complete the Japanese entry form free of charge.
  • My destination needs a physician signature on test certificates. Can you provide this?
Yes! Please let our staff know when you check in that a physician signature is required and we will have one of our physicians add it to your test certificate free of charge.
  • My destination has a specific requirement for their documentation. Can you accommodate this?
Please reach out to us by email and we will see what we can do. We do our best to be as flexible as possible!
  • What if I have a problem with my results?
We pride ourselves on client care. We set ourselves apart from other facilities by having a dedicated staff member monitoring emails periodically regarding your test results until 10 PM nightly. Should any urgent issues arise regarding your travel certificate, they can be addressed even outside of normal working hours.
  • What if my travel document is inaccurate or rejected?
To date, none of our documents have been rejected by any airline or any destination provided the client has booked the correct test for their purposes. We are an accredited facility approved by The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia's Diagnostic Assessment Program. Always do your research before booking any test so you know you have chosen the right test in the right timeframe for your needs.
  • Can you really have my PCR result in 6 hours or less?
Yes. Our PCR machines can process results in a little less than 2 hours. Taking into account preparation time, this means that we can have rush results available in as little as 2.5-3 hours. Due to the complex nature of PCR testing there are times (3-5%) when a sample may need to be repeated to confirm a result. In these cases, result turnaround time may be a few hours longer. However, having our PCR machines on-site means that any repeat testing needed is completed on the same day - we will always guarantee same-day results if that service is selected.
  • How will I get my travel document?
All results are sent by email as a PDF attachment. You are welcome to get a hardcopy from the office after your test result is reported.
  • It's been two hours and I haven't received my antigen test results. Where are they?
Occasionally, some junk filters may detect your results as spam. Please check your spam or junk folder. If it's still not there, please reach out to reception@boundlessbc.com ASAP. We expect all antigen results to be received within 20-45 minutes. PCR result time will vary depending on your booking option.
  • What happens if I have a positive test result?
Any clients who receive a positive test result should quarantine until given further direction by local Public Health officials. Boundless Medical staff will contact clients with a positive test result as quickly as possible with instructions for self-care, self-reporting and contacting of public health officials.
  • I tested positive with an antigen test. What are the chances it is a false positive?
While not as accurate as PCR tests, antigen tests are considered highly 'specific.' This means when your test is positive, it likely represents a true positive. If practical, positive antigen tests should be confirmed with a PCR test. If this is not practical, we will ALWAYS conservatively recommend that clients treat their antigen test as a true positive and act accordingly with further direction to be given by Public Health. We have a duty first and foremost to the general public in the event of any positive test.
  • What is a Documentation of Recovery from COVID-19 good for?
Some travel destinations will accept proof of a past positive test in addition to a physician certificate in lieu of a pre-travel test for a certain time period. Always consult your destination country's COVID-19 related travel page prior to arranging a Certificate of Recovery.
  • What do you need to certify recovery from past COVID-19 infection?
Physicians at Boundless Medical can only certify past COVID-19 infection when the below requirements are met: 1. Documentation of past COVID-19 infection is available from an accredited lab. Demographics must include name, date of birth, and date of the test. 2. You have met the local requirements to end your quarantine period. 3. You are asymptomatic. 4. That either a) you are asymptomatic and 10 days have passed since your documented positive test result or b) you have a documented positive result, 10 days have passed since the onset of your symptoms, and you are asymptomatic or your symptoms have improved significantly. If you are unsure if you qualify for a certificate of recovery, please reach out by email prior to making a booking. We recommend reaching out as soon as possible for guidance in the event you have tested positive with a home antigen test.
  • I have completed 5 days of quarantine and feel fine. Can I get Documentation of Recovery?
Some data suggests that COVID-19 transmission can still occur 6-10 days (and sometimes longer) after a positive test result or symptom onset. Traveling involves close contact with many fellow passengers whose health status and vulnerability to COVID-19 infection we cannot know. Boundless Medical thus takes a more conservative position. We are only able certify your recovery from COVID-19 after either a) you are asymptomatic and 10 days have passed since your documented positive test result or b) you have a documented positive result, 10 days have passed since the onset of your symptoms, and you are asymptomatic or your symptoms have improved significantly.
  • I did a COVID-19 home antigen test which was positive, can you certify this?
We can only validate COVID-19 home tests under specific conditions: 1. Your home viral antigen test kit is approved by Health Canada, the WHO or FDA. 2. You complete a new test kit under the direct supervision of one of our trained technicians during a virtual/telehealth appointment. If these criteria are met, we can certify your test. A certified test may be required to document recovery from COVID-19, and may also be useful in the event of an insurance claim (eg. in the event you needed to cancel travel due to a positive home test) or workplace concern.
  • Are all tests the same when it comes to Documentation of Recovery from COVID-19?
No! Each country and jurisdiction has different rules as to which test types they will allow to certify a past positive result. Some require PCR/NAAT testing, whereas others are more lenient and allow for certified positive rapid test results. Always be sure to review government COVID-19 travel requirements from both your destination country and Canada before arranging Documentation of Recovery.
  • I need to change my appointment. What should I do?
Please contact us via email with your request and give us some direction. We do not charge any fee for a change of appointment, provided the appointment is moved to a like for like booking and we are given sufficient notice. We will do our very best to accommodate your request. Please do not book a second appointment before contacting us first, as you may still face a cancellation fee of your original appointment (see our cancellation policy).
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Antigen, RT-PCR, Virtual and Documentation of Recovery visits can be rescheduled free of charge provided we receive at least 24 hours notice from your scheduled appointment time and space is available during standard work hours. Bookings canceled at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time are fully refundable less a $10 administrative fee. Missed appointments, or bookings canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice from your scheduled appointment time are non-refundable.
  • I'm testing for travel. What happens if my flight is canceled at the last minute?
First, check with your country of destination. Some countries allow some leeway in testing requirements in the event of a delayed or canceled flight. Boundless Medical is first and foremost a COVID-19 testing facility. We test patients for many reasons aside from travel, including workplace exposures, sports and recreation events, corporate requests, and personal reasons. We do not adjust our cancellation policy in the event of interrupted or canceled flights. In these circumstances, we recommend that affected clients reach out to their travel insurance provider. We can provide itemized invoices in the event you choose to make an insurance claim.
  • Why do you charge a $10 administrative fee for cancellations?
When deciding how best to process payments, our main concern was your privacy and security. We chose to use a payment processing service which offered excellent security and a reliable service. This company takes a percentage fee on all bookings made, and the cancellation fee helps offset these costs in addition to clerical costs. We also plan our staffing by the number of tests booked in advance. Whilst we recognize this fee is unfortunate for those who have to cancel their appointments, the vast majority of clients will benefit from the added security of their private banking information and a reliable payment service. We do not collect or store any of your payment information. For reference, our cancellation policy is one of the most lenient on Vancouver Island when compared to other COVID-19 testing clinics.
